NBA Hornets Game & Attendance Statistics, 2002-2006

Game By Game & Season By Season Comparison

This report follows the end of the 2005-2006 relocation of the Hornets to Oklahoma City following Hurricane Katrina in September 2005. Whether the relocation proves to be temporary or not remains to be seen and is out of the hands of fans like me or you – except as we may have voted by our feet by attending games in either city or by not doing so. All statistics shown in this report were drawn from Box Scores located at the ESPN Hornets Schedule pages except that the Oklahoma City 2005-06 season were drawn from NBA statistics if available.

COMPARISON OF THE DATA

A comparison of the compiled data leaves no doubt that, not only has Oklahoma City supported the Hornets beyond expectations, its fan support presents a strong piece of the case for the Hornets remaining in Oklahoma City “permanently” (although there is no such thing) or, if the Hornets DO return to New Orleans, that Oklahoma City would be a good place for some other NBA team to be.

If you don’t want to be bored by detail, click on any thumbnail below for a comparison of any of the three seasons that the Hornets played in New Orleans with the 2005-2006 Hornets season in Oklahoma City.
