Centre Theater. The 1,600 seat Centre Theater designed by the Kansas City Boller Brothers firm was built in 1947, and opened on Christmas Day at 415 Couch Drive. Eventually, after it closed (reports vary as to date, mid to late 1970's), it became the kernel for the Oklahoma City Museum of Art (but as part of a much larger structure) and a small nicely done stadium style theater (called the Noble Theater) is present in the complex. I have no particularly good images of the Centre. Shown below are a collage of images. The 1st is a photograph of the stage appearing in the December 14, 1947, Oklahoman. I cannot recall where I located the images grouped together in the 2nd picture. Other information about downtown movie theaters is in my downtown movies article.
